Unlawful and disgraceful conduct in the matter of Mrs. ___ Fadlallah: forced signing of an undertaking never to return to Gaza as precondition for medical treatment

HaMoked complained to the head of the Gaza DCO of wrongful conduct in the case of a Palestinian who arrived at the Erez Crossing en route from Gaza to the West Bank in order to give birth there. The woman, who was in the advanced stages of pregnancy and carrying four fetuses, was struck with sharp pains while at the Crossing and an ambulance was called to transport her to a hospital in Ashkelon. While she writhed in pain on the gurney, a soldier approached her and made her sign an undertaking never to return to Gaza. HaMoked stresses that this conduct is unlawful and that the undertaking invalid. HaMoked demands that the military conduct an investigation and ensure the phenomenon will not recur.
