Visits by Israelis to the Gaza Strip during the coming Id Al-Fitr
HaMoked contacted GOC Southern Command demanding to allow Israelis to visit their Gaza Strip relatives during the coming Id Al-Fitr. This following the military’s policy of two years of refusing the visits due to concern for the visitors’ safety and that they would be used by terrorist organizations without their knowledge. In the letter, HaMoked stresses that the military upheld its pledge to allow visits, given in petitions filed by HaMoked, even after Hamas took control over Gaza and that its reasons for denying the visits are inconsistent with current reality whereby even today, many Israelis are present in Gaza with the military’s permission, meaning visits are allowed without concern.
