HaMoked urges the Israeli government to uphold its obligations toward the population of the Occupied Palestinian Territories as laid down in international law: The results of the democratic elections that took place in the Palestinian Authority cannot justify disregard for these obligations or human rights violations

"Protected persons who are in occupied territory shall not be deprived, in any case or in any manner whatsoever, of the benefits of the present Convention by any change introduced, as the result of the occupation of a territory, into the institutions or government of the said territory."

Article 47, IVth Geneva Convention

HaMoked - Center for the Defence of the Individual urges the Israeli government to uphold its obligations toward the population of the Occupied Palestinian Territories as laid down in international law and affirms:

As long as the territories are under belligerent occupation, Israel must maintain their inhabitants' proper course of life and respect their human rights.

The results of the democratic elections that took place in the Palestinian Authority cannot justify human rights violations or disregard for the duties laid down in international law.

Israel bears the responsibility to provide services which the Palestinian Authority is unable to provide and for humanitarian crises that may arise.
