Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 7

The Article states that a child has the right to be registered immediately after birth, to a name, and to acquire a nationality, and, as far as possible, the right to know and be cared from by his or her parents. The States Parties must ensure implementation of these rights, particularly where the child would otherwise be stateless.
