Convention on the Rights of the Child
Article 8
The Article requires the States Parties to respect the right of the child to preserve his or her identity, including nationality, name and family relations; where a child is legally deprived of some of these elements of his or her identity, to provide appropriate assistance and protection to re-establish his or her identity.
