Geneva Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field
Article 16
The article establishes that each party to a conflict must document information to assist in identifying the wounded, sick and dead of the adverse party who fall into their hands and details which information, if available, is to be included. The article determines that this information must be forwarded to the adverse party as soon as possible and describes how. It also establishes that the adverse party must be provided with a list of its dead and documents and belongings found on their persons and describes how.
