CC (Jerusalem) 23492/97 - Abu Najme v. Barkat et al.

Claim filed by HaMoked in a severe case where a Palestinian youth was detained by Border Police officers because the colors of his clothes reminded them of the colors of the Palestinian flag. At the Police station, the officers severely abused the boy physically, mentally and sexually. They beat him, ordered him to kneel and rise several times, mockingly offered him food during Ramadan, brushed up against his body and tried to undress him. The investigation that was opened into the incident closed on the grounds of insufficient evidence. The compromise judgment ordered the State to pay NIS 10,000 in damages.
