Processing Applications by Palestinians seeking to exit Gaza who appeal through Human Rights Organizations

HaMoked appeals to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, and requests that he process the applications of Palestinians seeking to travel from Gaza to the West Bank, and refrain from making processing conditional on submission of an application to the Palestinian Civil Affairs Committee. This appeal follows the new situation which was created in Gaza: Palestinians are unable to reach the Israeli side of the checkpoint due to the closing of the gates, and dozens of people are waiting, under harsh and inhuman conditions, by the gates leading to the Israeli side. Following recent events in Gaza, the office of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Committee in Gaza – which is responsible for transferring applications by Palestinians seeking to travel from Gaza to the West Bank through Israel - was closed, and therefore there is currently no organ able to transfer applications to the Israeli DCO. HaMoked claims that the new situation calls for more flexible procedures and that applications transferred to the Israeli side must be processed with even greater speed and efficiency.
