CC (Jerusalem) 1945/98 - Taha v. Abraham et al.

Claim filed by HaMoked in the beating of a Palestinian and his 55-year-old mother by Border Police undercover officers. The Plaintiff who had left his house in the middle of the night after he had heard a cry for help, was caught by the Defendants. They beat him all over his body and sprayed tear gas in his face. His mother, who tried to protect him, was beaten as well. Once detained, the Plaintiff received no medical attention and was releases only six months later. Despite the fact that the Police officers who had been involved in the incident had been interrogated, the Police Investigation Unit case was closed under the claim that it was impossible to ascertain the specific identity of the police offices who took part in the incident. The claim was settled and the State paid the Plaintiffs NIS 25,000.
