Revocation of residency status from permanent residents in Jerusalem
Response of the interior ministry to an application submitted by HaMoked under the Freedom of Information Act to receive information regarding revocation of residency in East Jerusalem in 2008. The ministry informs that in 2008, 4577 permanent residents of East Jerusalem were revoked of their residency, including 99 children under 18. The interior ministry admits that most residency revocations in 2008 were undertaken as proactive measures by the ministry during March and April. The ministry’s response is partial and many of HaMoked’s questions remain unanswered, despite the many months and seven reminders sent by HaMoked since the original application was made.
