Cabinet Meeting Decisions Concerning the Construction of the Separation Wall

The Government of Israel decides to approve the first stage of construction of the wall, as presented to it by the security agencies. The Government was presented with the creation of a "Seam Zone" around Jerusalem, and within the Eastern security area. The Prime Minister and Minister of Defense emphasized that the separation stems from security necessity, aimed at preventing, as much as possible, the infiltration of assailants and weaponry into Israel, and is not a politically motivated separation.
