HaMoked to the military: allow three children from Gaza who came to Israel to receive hospital treatment to stay on until the end of fighting in Gaza

On July 29, 2014, HaMoked sent an urgent letter to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, requesting that three children from the Gaza Strip, convalescing following medical treatment at St. Joseph Hospital in East Jerusalem, be allowed to remain in Israel together with their mothers who accompanied them.

HaMoked stressed that it would be unreasonable to send the children into the conflagration, and undertook to find a place that would receive them and their mothers until the end of fighting.

The military accepted HaMoked's request, and issued temporary Israeli stay permits to the children and their mothers; but, overcome with worry and longing for their family members in Gaza, they returned to Gaza on August 1, 2014. One of the children returned with his mother to their home in Jabalya, the others who live in Rafah were unable to reach their home for several days.
