On November 27, 2014, a group of human rights organisations headed by HaMoked petitioned the HCJ to completely ban utilisation of the power to demolish houses pursuant to Regulation 119 of the Defense (Emergency) Regulations of the British Mandate, including in cases the security establishment defines as "extreme cases".

Although the petition does not seek to protect a specific house but rather, to challenge that practice of punitive house demolitions on the principle level, the court has scheduled it for a hearing on December 3, at 11:30 – at the same time as the hearing in the petitions against the intended demolition of the family homes of the two men from Jabal al-Mukabber who perpetrated the attack on a synagogue in Har Nof in Jerusalem; the court also ruled that the state must submit its response to the petition by December 2, 2014, at 17:30.
