A resident of East Jerusalem who received status
after years of legal battles waged by HaMoked, has been facing many difficulties in obtainig National Insurance benefits to which he is entitled, even after the resolution of his status.
On February 25, 2015,
HaMoked appealed the decision of the National Insurance Institute (NII) to recognize a 20% medical disability for the man. A review of the decision indicates that the examining physician did not recognize the man’s psycho-medical disability, apparently as it predates his status as a resident of Israel. HaMoked demanded that the man be summoned to meet with the medical appellate committee and with the committee on loss of earning capacity, and that he be recognized as having lost his earning capacity at a rate of at least 75%.
