HaMoked’s response to “Im Tirtzu”’s campaign
HaMoked: Center for the Defence of the Individual, founded by Dr. Lotte Salzberger, is a human rights organization active since 1988.
Every quarter, HaMoked submits all documents and financial reports required by law for review by the Israeli Registrar of Non-Profit Organizations, and is annually granted a due diligence certificate by the Registrar. HaMoked receives its funding from European funds and governments as well as funds in the US and Taiwan.
HaMoked rejects with repugnance the inciting smear campaign "Im Tirtzu" has been running in recent days, which seeks to besmirch the reputation of Israeli human organizations and their employees. There can be no doubt that this campaign which targets private individuals falls outside the protection of freedom of speech. It constitutes unbridled incitement and dangerous provocation that put at risk the personal wellbeing and safety of the organizations’ employees who “star” in it.
HaMoked is proud to be part of the human rights community in Israel and will continue undaunted to act to protect the rights of Palestinians who live under the Israeli occupation.
