The Ministry of Interior begins implementing its decision to grant status to Palestinians long undergoing family unification in Israel: the first of some 2,000 persons now entitled have been given identity cards

In April 2016, in the context of HaMoked’s petitions to the HCJ, the Minister of Interior announced his decision to give a temporary residence license (A/5 type visa) to some 2,000 Palestinians living in Israel for long years in the framework of the family unification procedure. This status would afford then social security rights, including national health insurance.

In recent days, A/5 visas were given to two of those now entitled to receive Israeli status according to the Minister’s decision. At the same time, the Ministry of Interior has begun sending summons for receipt of an A/5 visa to others of those entitled.
