Following HaMoked’s freedom-of-information request: the IPS provides information on the facilities used for holding Palestinian juvenile inmates inside Israel
Israel holds Palestinian detainees and prisoners inside its own territory, in breach of international law, prohibiting the transfer of detainees and prisoners from the occupied territory to the territory of occupying country.

On June 8, 2016, HaMoked sent the Israel Prison Service (IPS) a request under the Freedom of Information Law, concerning IPS facilities where Palestinian minors have been held in the years 2015-2016 been. HaMoked asked to knew in which facilities Israel was holding Palestinian juvenile prisoners and detainees from the West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to their classification as “security” or “criminal” inmates.

In it response of August 28, 2016, the IPS stated that in the years 2015 and 2016 (as of August 2016), Israel has been holding on its soil Palestinian minors in the following prisons and detention centers:

Ofek Prison, Jerusalem Detention Center (Russian Compound) – juvenile boys from East Jerusalem and the West Bank, held on criminal offences.

Megiddo Prison, Jerusalem Detention Center (Russian Compound) – juvenile boys from East Jerusalem and the West Bank, held on security offences.

Gilbo’a Prison – Juvenile boys from the West Bank held on security offences (boys in this category are also held in Ofer Prison – the only one Israel still operates in the West Bank).

Hadarim Detention Center – juvenile boys from the West Bank, held on criminal offences.
HaSharon Prison – juvenile girls from East Jerusalem and the West Bank, held on security offences.

The IPS said it did not have information about the holding place of juvenile girls from the West Bank and East Jerusalem, arrested on criminal offences.
