Procedure on Security Agency Comments regarding Family Unification Applications (Last revised 15.4.2010

Updated Ministry of Interior procedure regulating the handling of applications for family unification in East Jerusalem. The procedure relates to requests referred by the Ministry of Interior to the Military or the Police in order to receive an assessment before their approval, prior to every step in the graduated process. According to the procedure, if there is a criminal or security block precluding approval of the request, the Ministry of Interior will first notify the applicants that it is considering refusing theirs request, and only after the couple has had an opportunity to respond via a written hearing, will the Ministry refuse the request via a reasoned letter of refusal.
