Re: Objection to the State's intention to demolish the house on the ground floor in which lived G. Abu Jamal

HaMoked's objection against the intended punitive demolition of the family residence of one of the two assailants in the attack at the synagogue in Har Nof, Jerusalem. HaMoked maintains that house demolition constitutes a breach of the prohibition on collective punishment in international humanitarian law; that it violates the family members' basic rights to dignified living, housing and property; that it does not meet the test of proportionality; and that the security establishment itself has concluded that this practice was harmful rather than deterring.
