HCJ 8066/14 - M. Abu Jamal et al. v. GOC Home Front Command Petition for Order Nisi and Interim Order
HaMoked's petition against the state's intention to partially demolish the family home of one of the two assailants in the attack at the synagogue in Har Nof, Jerusalem. HaMoked asserts that "reality and history show that house demolition does not stop terror – and Respondent's argument that the deterrence of future potential perpetrators is a proper purpose, is deceptive"; furthermore, that "House demolition has a clear purpose which is to satisfy the will to revenge"; and that punitive house demolition contradicts Israel's Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty, as well as international law, which prohibits collective punishment.
