HaMoked to the military: Israelis living with their families in Gaza cannot renew their stay permits at this time; their permits should be renewed automatically
On March 23, 2020, HaMoked wrote to the military regarding Israeli residents and citizens who live in the Gaza Strip and whose permits of stay in Gaza expired or are about to expire. HaMoked requested that the military clarify its policy regarding those of this population who are currently in Gaza with their families and cannot get their permits renewed - due to the closure of Erez Crossing in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
HaMoked enquired if the military intended to automatically renew these people’s permits (
as did the Ministry of Interior for Palestinians living in Israel with stay permits); or if, at least, it would not hold against them the fact that their permits expired when renewal is impossible.
